The Windermere places great emphasis on the importance of maintaining an active and enjoyable social life. We hold various activities, exercises, and entertainment events on a regular basis. We encourage residents to participate as often as possible.
The Windermere publishes a calendar of events at the beginning of each month in the monthly newsletter called "IN THE WIND". A copy of the newsletter is available at the front desk. A calendar of events and the newsletter are also available on this web site. We post daily activities on the Activity Board on the main floor.
Friends and relatives are welcome to attend all our special events. We encourage family and friends to consider volunteering. There are many opportunities to make a difference in the quality of life for our residents.
At the Windermere our programs encompass the
five domains of holistic well being. These domains
are: cognitive, social, mental, spiritual, and
emotional stimulation. We are able to reach these
by providing various programs.
Our wheelchair-accessible
bus takes residents on excursions to shops and
theatres. Music and craft sessions, courses and
classes keep minds active. Exercise programs and
lawn croquet keep bodies fit. There's even a beauty
salon, a Happy Hour, and an internet café where
residents can connect with grandchildren in the
Maritimes, old friends in Toronto - or the world.
For quiet times, there's a library/reading room.
Residents have access to pastoral care and a weekly
church service in our own chapel. Please see Other Services for more information on pastoral care. Below are some
